El Alamein was the last level I worked on for Hell Let Loose. It was a unique level in that Danny had generated many of the rocks via a Blender script. I did however have to add a lot more rocks, fix many of them, and detail a lot of areas. Coming up with areas that were both engaging and historical was difficult. I wanted to do the train station with a rail line, but sadly it didn't happen. The area isn't exactly historical as many of the cliffs/hills are too steep for the actual real world area. It also features a completely fictional layout. This was done to make the level play better for infantry and Hell Let Loose's meta game. Having it very flat like the actual area, infantry would be too easily cut down in the open by tanks. Overall this level was quick to produce, probably the least amount of time spent on it compared to the others I worked on for Hell Let Loose. The tactical map was quickly made as I really had the process down at this point.
